Ref Insight sends your account invitation, assignment notifications, and other important messages from these addresses:
- update@mail.refinsight.com — invitations, assignments, and system notifications
- news@mail.refinsight.com — announcements and platform updates
- support@refinsight.com — replies from the Ref Insight support team
Email providers sometimes route mail from an unfamiliar sender to a spam or junk folder. Adding these addresses to your safe senders list tells your provider that you want the mail. Find your email provider below and follow the steps once — it takes about a minute.
If a Ref Insight email is already sitting in your spam or junk folder, move it to your inbox first. Most providers treat that as a signal on its own.
Gmail (personal @gmail.com addresses)
Gmail has no safe senders button. Two settings help, and doing both is the most reliable approach.
Add Ref Insight to your contacts
- Open any email from Ref Insight.
- Hover over the sender's name at the top of the message.
- On the card that appears, click the add-to-contacts icon.
Create a filter (the most reliable method)
- Open Gmail in a web browser on a computer. Filters cannot be created in the Gmail mobile app.
- Click the gear icon, then See all settings.
- Open the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab, then click Create a new filter.
- In the From field, enter refinsight.com.
- Click Create filter.
- Check Never send it to Spam, then click Create filter again.
Gmail permanently deletes anything left in Spam after 30 days, so it is worth setting the filter rather than relying on checking the folder.
Gmail through a work, school, or league account
If you read mail in Gmail but your address doesn't end in @gmail.com, the filter steps above still work for your own mailbox. If messages are being filtered before they reach you, your IT administrator will need to allow refinsight.com at the organization level. See the last section of this article.
Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live, MSN, and new Outlook for Windows
- Click the Settings gear icon.
- Go to Mail > Junk email.
- Scroll to Senders and open the Safe senders and domains tab.
- Click Add safe sender, enter update@mail.refinsight.com, and click OK.
- Repeat for each of the other addresses listed at the top of this article.
- Click Save.
If you have more than one account set up in Outlook, select the correct account before you edit the list — safe senders are stored per mailbox. It is easy to add the address to one account while checking the junk folder of another.
Classic Outlook for Windows
- On the Home tab, click Junk > Junk E-mail Options.
- Open the Safe Senders tab.
- Click Add, enter update@mail.refinsight.com, and click OK.
- Repeat for each of the other addresses listed at the top of this article, then click OK to close.
Outlook for Mac
- From the Tools menu, choose Junk Email Preferences.
- Select the Safe Senders tab.
- Click the + button, type update@mail.refinsight.com, and press Return.
- Repeat for each of the other addresses listed at the top of this article.
Apple Mail and iCloud Mail (@icloud.com, @me.com, @mac.com)
iCloud has no safe senders list. Instead, iCloud will not send mail to Junk if the sender is in your contacts, so add Ref Insight there.
Add Ref Insight to your contacts
- Open the Contacts app, or go to icloud.com and open Contacts.
- Create a new contact.
- Name it Ref Insight and add all three email addresses listed at the top of this article.
- Save.
If a message is already in Junk
- iPhone or iPad — open the message in the Junk folder, tap the move-to-folder icon at the bottom of the screen, then choose Inbox.
- Mac — select the message in Junk and click the Junk button in the Mail toolbar, or drag the message to your Inbox.
- iCloud.com — open the Junk folder, select the message, then click Not Junk.
Marking a sender as a VIP does not keep their mail out of Junk. Use the contact and not-junk steps above instead.
Yahoo Mail and AOL Mail
Yahoo and AOL share the same platform, so these steps apply to both.
Add Ref Insight to your contacts
Open a message from Ref Insight, click the three-dot menu, and choose Add Sender to Contacts.
Create a filter
- Click the Settings icon, then More Settings.
- Choose Filters, then Add new filters.
- Name the filter Ref Insight.
- Under From, choose contains and type refinsight.com.
- Set the destination folder to Inbox.
- Click Save.
Work, School, or League-Provided Email
If your email account is managed by an employer, a school district, or your league, spam filtering may happen on the server before the message ever reaches your mailbox. In that case none of the personal settings above will help.
Ask your IT administrator to allow the following:
- mail.refinsight.com (covers update@ and news@)
- refinsight.com
This is a common issue for officials using a school email address. If you have a personal email account, using it for your Ref Insight profile is usually the simpler fix.
Still Not Receiving Ref Insight Email?
- Check your spam or junk folder, and your Promotions or Updates tab if your provider uses them.
- Confirm that the email address on your Ref Insight profile is the one you are checking.
- Go to app.refinsight.com/officials and select Activate My Account.
- Contact us at support@refinsight.com or use the in-app chat by tapping Get Help.
